Services Offered:
Specially trained nurses are on-call to respond to immediate sexual assault cases.
SANE nurses provide sensitive and objective medical care and collect forensic evidence from the sexual assault survivor.
Medical treatment includes a physical assessment of injuries and prevention for STD and pregnancy from the sexual assault.
Forensic evidence includes photography, colposcopy exam, injury documentation, and body standards, such as hair, fingernail scrapings.
The Albuquerque SANE Collaborative coordinates closely with the Albuquerque Rape Crisis Center, district attorney offices, and police departments in Albuquerque, Bernalillo and outlying counties to ensure a standardized response for sexual assault victims and to raise awareness about the incidence, risk, and prevention of sexual assault. There is no cost to the survivor.
