CARE empowers individuals to leave abusive home environments by providing temporary housing for companion animals, livestock and exotic animals.

Temporary homes are provided through a network of government agencies and private agencies, veterinary clinics, groomers, boarding kennels and private individuals. Many of the safe havens within the New Mexico network are free of charge; others charge a nominal fee or operate on a sliding scale.

NMDC serves victims or potential victims of human trafficking. Our program, Spoken For, provides aftercare services to
survivors of human trafficking in the form of emergency shelter, transitional living apartments, case management and tangible
goods and resources. The Harbour is our drop-in center for youth experiencing homelessness. The Harbour provides walk up
resources and services including food, clothing, laundry services, showers, hygiene and case management. The outreach program

Specially trained nurses are on-call to respond to immediate sexual assault cases.
-
SANE nurses provide sensitive and objective medical care and collect forensic evidence from the sexual assault survivor.
-
Medical treatment includes a physical assessment of injuries and prevention for STD and pregnancy from the sexual assault.
-
Forensic evidence includes photography, colposcopy exam, injury documentation, and body standards, such as hair, fingernail scrapings.
-
The Albuquerque SANE Collaborative coordinates closely with the Albuquerque Rape Crisis Center, district attorney offices, and police departments in Albuquerque, Bernalillo and outlying counties to ensure a standardized response for sexual assault victims and to raise awareness about the incidence, risk, and prevention of sexual assault. There is no cost to the survivor.
